Mohammad Badal lives in a bustling alley in Zigatola. This middle-aged man spent most of his life working at a private office, keeping his family comfortable and secure. He ensured his children’s education and the entire family’s needs.

As he turned 60, his working life inevitably came to an end. In retirement, he had no daily responsibilities and spent his time at home with family.

At first, it felt wonderful. After years of doing his job diligently and providing for his family’s comfort, he finally had the chance to rest. Spending time with family after so long, playing with his grandchildren, everything seemed pleasant. But gradually, a thought kept coming into his mind, “I can’t just sit around like this. My family needs a bit more financial support, and I need to keep myself busy with something meaningful.”

One morning, an idea suddenly struck him. “What if I open a small grocery store right next to our house? It would provide some income, keep me occupied throughout the day, and I’d get to meet neighbors regularly.”

With whatever savings he had, Badal Bhai opened a grocery store. He quickly organized everything needed and set up the shop efficiently. It was convenient for the neighborhood residents as the store was close to home and everyone knew and trusted Badal Bhai. After opening the store, family members helped whenever they could.

Despite good sales, Badal Bhai faced one persistent challenge: the hassle of procuring goods. Traveling to various wholesale markets and suppliers was exhausting due to his age. Worse still, on days when his son couldn’t sit in the store, he had to close shop completely to go buy products. Additionally, Dhaka’s unbearable traffic jams and his age-related knee and leg pain made the entire process of buying and transporting goods extremely frustrating.

“At this age, loading and unloading heavy products onto rickshaws, spending hours on the road was genuinely very difficult,” says Badal Bhai. “Running around in crowds at this age, plus the time and extra expenses like rickshaw and auto fares, keeping the shop closed for more than half the day, it was all quite troublesome.”

Then one day, a PriyoShop representative visited his store. After talking with Badal Bhai, he understood the challenges with product supply and explained how PriyoShop helps mom-and-pop shops. He also mentioned that without going anywhere, Badal Bhai could order products right from his store using the PriyoShop app.

Since Badal Bhai wasn’t very skilled with mobile phones, he initially hesitated. He was also concerned about digital financial transactions and online ordering, wondering whether he should place orders or not.

However, the PriyoShop representative patiently explained everything and encouraged him to try ordering products through the app that very day, promising that his ordered goods would arrive the next day.

When PriyoShop’s delivery person brought the first order the following day, Badal Bhai felt reassured. The products reached his store on time, at the right price, without any hassle.

From then on, Badal Bhai became a regular PriyoShop customer. Not only did he receive products at his store, but PriyoShop also provided him with credit facilities. Now he orders products and pays when he makes a profit. This has made running his business much easier.

Today, Badal Bhai’s store is in much better condition than before. He receives products regularly, doesn’t worry about pricing, and no longer faces the physical strain of transporting goods.

In Badal Bhai’s own words: “At this age, I no longer have to deal with the hassle of going to different places to buy products. The expenses are also lower, no more rickshaw fares or daily travel costs. I’m now a regular PriyoShop customer. They’ve given me credit facilities, which help me gradually expand my small store.”

His story proves that age is no barrier when you have the right support. Through PriyoShop, any shopkeeper in Bangladesh can now easily purchase products, save money and access credit facilities on favorable terms.

PriyoShop is always there to support every store, standing by their side at all times.
